Let's examine Webuzo's remote S3 backup configurations using IDrive® e2 in a bit more detail.
What is Idrive?
IDrive® e2 is a quick, dependable, and cheap object storage option that supports the S3 API. It is simple to integrate with your current apps, data management tools, and S3 gateways. Servers are being deployed in clusters. Each area has its own networks, compute resources, and API endpoints. There are currently 14 regions across the US, Canada, and Europe for IDrive® e2. Keeping their data close to where they are running their applications may be more significant to most commercial users than the cost of storage. They could find IDrive's e2 to be an economical backup service.
How to configure the settings in Idrive?
Step 1:
Login to S3 Storage https://app.idrivee2.com/
So now we have to create the Bucket (storage) and the access key (authentication to the bucket)
Step 2:
First, we need to create the buckets for the required server.
Fill out the bucket name and region name by referring to your KB
*Make sure files in the bucket are private
Step 3:
The Access Key ID & Secret Access Key, which are required to verify a user's identity, must be generated or assigned to users before they can execute any operation, whether through APIs or clients. Therefore, we must next build an access key.
To create S3 an Access Key,
1. Click on the Access Keys tab.
2. Click Create Access Key
Enter a name for the access key and select a region from the list of enabled regions in the dropdown list and you can leave the backup location blank and fill out the rest as referred to in the created bucket.
Select the access permission for the access key.
Select the buckets to be accessed using the access key.
Click Create Access Key.
An Access Key ID and Secret Access Key will be generated. Download/copy to save the details.
How to schedule the backup in Webuzo?
Next, we need to add a schedule so the server knows when to backup
Step 1:
Login to the Webuzo panel of the respective server and go to Home > Backup and Restore > Scheduled Backups
Step 2:
Here we schedule the time period for the backup. You can schedule as per your need or verify the following settings.
- Hour: Select any time after 20:00
2. Minutes: Select minutes:10, hour:20,
3. Day: For the day select every day
4. Month: For the month select every month
5. Weekday: On weekdays put a random day like Thursday
Step 3:
And next, the key is to select the backup server as the new s3 storage
Then click schedule and that should save the schedule
So now you should be able to run it from that scheduled screen
Under action Now you can see the backup and run it.
Step 4:
Finally, You can check the status of the backups from > Home > Tasks, and the log files give you a real-time update on your backup process.
Conclusion
To sum up we have demonstrated how to configure remote backups in the Webuzo server using Idrive e2 in detail and we have now gone through the whole configuration process and how to schedule it.
