Webuzo provides a centralised interface to manage various aspects of web hosting such as website files, databases, email accounts, DNS settings, and server resources. Additionally, it also provides access to common logs which record various activities and events on the server. In this blog we are discussing some common logs files that contain information about the activities performed on the server. Which are used for troubleshooting, monitoring, and analysis purposes. These logs record events such as web server requests, errors, warnings, access attempts, and many others. They are essential for identifying and resolving issues related to the server, the hosted applications, and the user.
Exim : -
The main.log contains ALL interactions that exim handles, so both incoming and outgoing mail transactions.
Log Path:- /var/log/exim/main.log
The reject.log contains all connection attempts that were denied. This information is also logged in the main.log.
Log Path:- /var/log/exim/reject.log
Dovecot:-
IMAP and POP3 login attempts; transactions; fatal errors and Apache SpamAssassin™scores.
Log Path:- /var/log/maillog

Within the logs folder, each site on the server will have its own log file. These files will be the fully qualified domainname.err, i.e. domain.com.err.
Log Path:- /usr/local/apps/apache2/logs

In conclusion, The function of common logs cannot be overlooked as they are integral in the pursuit of being able to monitor and analyse the activities and events occurring on a server. Such endeavours are of primary importance, as they aid in detecting and eventually dealing with issues that might arise concerning both the server and its hosted applications.
By properly examining usual logs, one can gain important understandings into the server's effectiveness, security, and utilisation tendencies. With the aid of suitable methodologies and software, system administrators and developers may enhance the server and applications, enrich user involvement, and verify the seamless operation of the hosting environment.
